Colour Accented Dollfie Uzuki Shimamura with Miku Hair
My Canon G10 camera is truly ancient but it has a few neat features, especially the colour accenting mode. One evening I took a few shots of Dollfie Dream Sister Uzuki Shimamura, colour accenting her red necktie. It also picks out her red plaid skirt, her faceup and the menacing face of her cute Domo-Kun mascot.
In these photos Uzuki is wearing her default school uniform outfit. I was lucky enough to pick this up from Mandarake at the same time as I bought Uzuki herself. Maybe both items were sold to Mandarake by the same seller.
The outfit is pretty neat and the only issue I had was that the shirt’s top button fell off the first time I dressed Uzuki in this outfit. Really it would have been better in my opinion if the top fastening was a popper with a sewn on decorative button.
Oh, and for some reason the outfit doesn’t come with pantsu… a curious omission as many such outfits do usually come with panties.
Here’s another photo of Uzuki wearing this lovely outfit.
Incidentally the jacket pockets are just for show – sadly you can’t put things in them.
I like that Uzuki’s faceup is really noticeable in these colour accented images. Her faceup is much bolder than Dollfie Dream Dynamite Towa’s is. She’s such a happy, smiley girl and will bring a smile to your own face on even the most depressing of cold, winter days.
In case you’re wondering, Uzuki isn’t wearing her default wig – she is of course wearing a Miku Hatsune wig. We bought this from Volks in Japan. It wasn’t cheap (the equivalent of $110) but it’s such an iconic hairpiece we just had to have it. It also reminds me of the fact that I became interested in Dollfie Dream dolls because I wanted a Miku doll and after finding that Smart Dolls didn’t do Miku dolls I ended up discovering the world of Dollfie.
Oh, and the mini Domo-Kun plushie isn’t a Volks product or even one that is intended for 1/3rd sized ball-jointed dolls. I bought him way back in 2004 as part of an order from JList. I have a few larger plushies of him too which were mostly acquired when I visited the NHK studios in Shibuya, Tokyo back in 2007. In fact I was so into Domo-Kun at the time that visiting the NHK studio store was the first thing I did in my first full day in Tokyo.
I’ve heard that the Volks schoolbag that Uzuki is carrying has actually become something of a rarity. It’s really cool and was one of the very first items I ordered from Volks Japan. We also have the school desk set, and our version has the little hook for hanging the bag on when the girls are studying. The bag also fits neatly on the desk’s shelf.
Check my blog out for other photos and musings on Dollfie Dream Uzuki Shimamura. As I’m sure you’ll agree, she’s a real sweetie and I highly recommend acquiring her.
